Admission Process

Step 1: Education Credential Assessment (ECA)

ECA evaluates foreign degrees and diplomas for Canadian equivalency. It remains valid for five years. Organizations like WES, ICAS, IQAS, and ICES assess credentials for immigration, employment, and education purposes.

WES is designed by IRCC to assess foreign education, while ICAS helps employers and institutions understand overseas qualifications. IQAS, run by Alberta, provides assessments aligned with Canadian standards, and ICES in British Columbia offers reliable evaluations for work and study.

Step 2: Language Proficiency Test

Applicants must take an English proficiency test. CELPIP is available in Canada, the US, the Philippines, and the UAE. IELTS is widely accepted globally. Higher scores in these tests improve the chances of receiving an early ITA.

Step 3: Profile Creation for ITA

ITA (Invitation to Apply) is issued under the FSW (Federal Skilled Worker) category or PNP (Provincial Nominee Program). Applicants need an IELTS score and ECA for profile creation.

The NOC code is assigned based on work experience and duties. Once the profile is locked, ITA is issued by CIC if the CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) score meets the cut-off, which depends on education, work experience, skills, and age.

Step 4: Document Submission

After receiving ITA, applicants must submit:

  • Medical test report
  • Police clearance certificate
  • Proof of funds (6 months' bank statement)
  • Letters of reference for work experience
  • Marriage, divorce, or death certificates
  • Birth/adoption certificates for dependents
  • Passport (all pages)
  • Passport-size photographs
  • Travel history and address details for the past 10 years
  • Documents must be submitted for the principal applicant, spouse, and dependent children if applicable.

Step 5: Visa Application Submission

Submit all required documents from Step 4 and pay the visa fee. Processing time ranges from 5 days to 6 months, with most applications taking 2–4 months. Additional documents may be requested by CIC if needed.

Step 6: Visa Stamping

Once PR confirmation is received, the visa must be stamped in the passport. Applicants must visit a VFS center, submit their passport and photographs, and pay a small fee. The stamped visa is issued within a week and allows single entry for first-time arrivals.
